Background

Cheng Peng received his PhD from the University of Queensland in 2002. He then worked as Research Officer at Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR). He joined Professor Jack Ng’s group at Entox in 2008.

Research Interests

Dr Cheng Peng’s research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of genotoxicity and carcinogenicity of   environmental chemicals, their combined effects and molecular pathways involved. He research work also includes the use of in vitro cell system for health risk assessment and bioremediation of organic compounds and heavy metal(loid)s.

Research Projects

  • Assessing the risk to human health and the environment from mixed contamination

  • Exploring the mechanism of, and role of the MYB oncogene in, benzene-induced myeloid leukaemogenesis using a novel cell system.

  • Bioremediation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and heavy metals using Rhodobacter and Rhodopseudomonas

  • Development Of An In-Situ In-Vitro Cell System For Real Time Measurement Of Toxicological Effects Of Organic Mixtures In The Air And Groundwater.
