Yiqin studied her Master's degrees in environmental engineering at The University of Macau between 2009 and 2011. Her master thesis focused on the bio-removal of mixtures of BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and three isomers of xylene)/TPH (total petroleum hydrocarbons)/TCE (Trichloroethylene) from contaminated soil and water.
With the support of two scholarships (UQI Tuition Scholarship & a School of Medicine Research Higher Degree Living Scholarship), Yiqin is currently a PhD student with Prof. Jochen Mueller and Prof. Peter Sly at the University of Queensland.
Yiqin's work focuses on developing and validating a non-invasive method (by using biomarker of baby faeces) for estimating infant exposure to a range of environmental pollutants, mainly POPs (persistent organic pollutants).
